OUT-OF-PLANE DESIGN FOR REINFORCED MASONRY WALLS
This seminar will provide a unique overview of the engineering procedures for the out-of-plane design of masonry walls in combination with MASSTM software. This seminar will include a detailed look at the engineering logic used in the creation of interaction diagrams for masonry walls. Slenderness effects and limits will be discussed with a focus on the application of the moment magnifier method and the determination of service load deflections. Various aspects of the construction of masonry walls and the CSA masonry standards are introduced throughout, creating a holistic view of the masonry design process for out-of-plane walls.
The half day seminar will cover:
- Relevant masonry codes and standards
- Introduction to masonry materials
- Introduction to reinforced masonry design
- Design of reinforced masonry out-of-plane walls with slenderness effects
- Detailed practical design examples of slender reinforced masonry walls
